# GPU acceleration

Hi!

In the [design paper](https://eprint.iacr.org/2022/915.pdf) it is said that OpenFHE supports GPU and AVX acceleration. How can I enable GPU acceleration? I have an Nvidia RTX A 2000.

Hi @miiip,

Thank you for the question. OpenFHE can support multiple hardware acceleration backends using the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) capability, as mentioned in the design paper. Currently several backends are under development. The only backend that is officially released so far is the AVX512 backend based on the Intel HEXL library. I will post an update to this topic once a GPU backend for OpenFHE gets released.
